Foxtail Forge & Farriery

A life-long horseman and a practicing farrier since 1972, Danvers specializes in shoeing sport and performance horses.

In addition to his home practice, Danvers travels extensively, as a farrier and as a consultant and specialist for farrier concerns. He served as a supervisor for the Official Farriers at the Alltech FEI 2010 World Equestrian Games; additionally, he's served as one of the Official Farriers at the Land Rover (formerly Rolex) Kentucky Three Day Event for over a decade, and in 2018 was inducted into the International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame.

Educator & Editor

A proponent of continuing education and voluntary certification, Danvers was one of 18 Approved Examiners in the American Farrier's Association's (AFA) certification program and conducted clinics and workshops for the farrier community throughout North America.

He served as Editorial Director for the AFA and as Editor of Professional Farrier magazine. He's received numerous American Horse Publications (AHP) awards for his work including Best Instructional Article, Editorial Event Coverage, and an Honorable Mention for the coveted AHP's Overall Excellence Award.

Community Involvement

In addition to his work within the farrier community, Danvers maintains an active role within the larger equine community. With his partner, April Raine, he owns and operates EquiDesis, LLC., an equine-focused editorial & design firm. He produces and reviews articles for numerous publications and has served within a variety of organizations. Since 2012, Danvers has served as the farrier consultant for SmartPak.
